About us
Twenty years ago, a grandfather built a pan he could trust. We haven't changed the formula since.
The Beginning
Walter cooked every Sunday for twenty-five years on the same pan — a wedding gift that had outlasted almost everything else in his home. Non-stick, easy to clean, built to last. He never questioned it.
Then his first grandchild was born. And a few years later, a doctor handed him a research report he almost didn't read.
The Problem
It was 2003. The EPA had just opened a formal investigation into PFAS — the synthetic chemicals used in non-stick coatings. DuPont was being sued. Scientists were calling them forever chemicals because the human body cannot break them down. They accumulate over a lifetime — and had been found in the blood of newborns across the country.
Walter thought about his grandchildren. About twenty-five years of Sunday dinners cooked on the same pan.
He threw it away that evening and never bought another non-stick pan again.
The Search
What followed was two years of looking for something he could actually trust.
The market was full of options and short on proof. Ceramic pans that wore out within months. Brands that printed "non-toxic" on the packaging without a single independent test to support it. Self-certified safety claims that meant nothing to a man who had just read what forever chemicals do to a child's developing hormonal system — disrupting thyroid function, reducing fertility, and accumulating in the body with every meal cooked on a worn coating.
He wasn't angry. He was patient. But he was done waiting for the industry to solve a problem it had spent decades ignoring.
The Answer
In 2005, Walter built his first pan.
He wasn't an engineer. He was a grandfather who couldn't find what he was looking for, so he started from scratch. Two years of research led him to titanium-reinforced ceramic — a surface harder and more durable than standard ceramic, naturally non-stick without any chemical coating, and independently certified by SGS and LFGB to the strictest food-contact safety standards in the world.
Zero PFAS. Zero PTFE. Zero PFOA. Zero lead. Zero cadmium.
He gave the first pan to his daughter. She still uses it today.
The Company
Word spread the way good things do — slowly, then all at once.
Neighbors asked where the pan came from. Friends of friends called. A small workshop became a small company built on one rule: prove what you claim.
Every certification document is published on every product page. Not in the fine print. Front and center. Every batch is independently tested before a single pan leaves the building. And every pan is built to last a decade — because cookware you replace every two years isn't a solution. It's just a different version of the same problem.
By 2015, thousands of families were cooking on pans Walter had built. None of them had ever needed to replace one.
One Last Batch
Walter turns 79 this year.
He has spent twenty years building pans he could hand to his children and grandchildren without a second thought. Pans that have outlasted kitchens, marriages, and moves across the country. His workshop still smells like metal and wood and the particular kind of patience that only comes from doing one thing for a very long time.
He is ready to step back now.
The pans you see in our store today are the final production run under his original formula. When this batch is gone, it is gone. No restock. No reformulation. No successor who learned the craft in six months.
Just the last of what Walter built — tested to the same zero-compromise standard he set in 2005, packed and ready to go to the kitchens they belong in.
If you have been thinking about it, this is the moment.
Today
Walter still cooks every Sunday.
His grandchildren are grown now. Some of them have children of their own. They all cook on the same pan — the one he built in 2005, the one that has never needed replacing, the one he tested himself before it left his hands.
That is what True Cookware has always been. Not the biggest brand. Not the loudest. Just the one that could prove every claim it made, and built something that lasted long enough to matter.
True Cookware. Built for three generations. And for your kitchen.
Cook True. Nothing Hidden
